Our Christmas Present!

It was incredible to think that this time last year, Riley was just the size of a pea. I have never put on the blog how we told our families that we were pregnant. So here goes...

We found out we were pregnant a week or so before Christmas. I was initially against telling our families over Christmas and wanted to wait longer but Ben convinced me to go ahead and tell them the news. He, of course, thought of the creative way of telling them. Christmas morning at the Barab household, we open each present one by one and ooh and aah over them. So we opened all of our presents and then said that we had one more present for my mom. Ben ran out to the car and grabbed a jewelry box which he gave to my mom. My mom opened the jewelry box and oohed and aahed over the ugliest orange marble you have ever seen. She then closed the box and said that we all had a great Christmas. Only then did Ben ask if my mom would like to know WHY we gave her a marble (she was too polite to ask us)! Ben very calmly replied "the marble is the size of our unborn baby"! Whitney, while changing Livy Anne's diaper, promptly started screaming which caused LA to begin screaming, my mom ran over and gave me a hug, and my aunt Grace started crying. It was quite emotional. Wouldn't you know that as soon as we made the news public, I immediately started feeling TERRIBLE?

Now that I have told you the story, here is the marble vs. Riley one short year later. Isn't it just incredible to see the miracle of a child?
