Caden is 1 month old!

The first month is already a blur to me! I mostly remember that he was a very sleepy baby. He nursed well but any effort at wake-time was challenging! I also remember getting up multiple times a night with him to nurse but also having issues getting him back to sleep at night. Let's just say there were several nights where Ben was woken up by me crying in bed in frustration and Cade screaming his head off in his crib!

This month I went NOWHERE with 2 kids. I could barely stay sane and patient with Riley so getting out was not even considered. I was thankful for the 2 days that Riley goes to school so I could get some errands run. When we got home from the hospital my patience was super short, I remember a time or two when I told Riley that if she didn't behave, we were "never ever going to do fun things again." It was at these moments that Ben miraculously stepped in and saved the day. He was able to be home most of the time for 2 weeks. The first day I was by myself with 2 kids, I was quite intimidated but made it through. I kept reminding myself that people all over the world have made it on their own and so can I! Can you tell that I give myself lots of pep talks?

Also to note, the night we got home from the hospital I forgot to take pain meds and it took at full week to get "ahead" of the pain again! That was not fun and I will not make that mistake ever again!

Oh yes, a funny moment during the c-section...As soon as they pulled Cade out, I saw he was covered in white stuff (because he was early). I immediately exlaimed "he's white"! The surgeon looked at me and asked me what color I expected him to be and did I need a moment alone to discuss this with my husband! Ha!

His 2 week stats:
weight: 6 lbs 14 oz (20th percentile)
height: 20 3/8 inches (50th percentile)
head: 15th percentile

His 1 month stats:
weight: 8 lbs 12 oz (40th percentile)
height: 21 1/2 inches (70th percentile)
head: 20th percentile

It has been so sweet to watch Riley bond with Cade! Here are some sweet moments I want to remember:
One day when she got home from school, she ran home and told Cade she loves him and then immediately started checking his toes to make sure they were all there!
She has been great with sharing dot (her lovie) and soothing him when he cries by rocking him in his car seat or singing him songs.
The first day we were home from the hospital she wanted to share a toy with Cade, so she threw it in the crib and it hit him on the head! We had IMMEDIATE talks about being gentle...
After this first bath, I was drying Cade off and Riley said "Yay for Cade's first bath"! She is his biggest cheerleader and I just love her for welcoming him into our family with open arms!

First pic of me and Cade!

Some cuddle time in the hospital
Riley giving Cade his first kiss.
Look at Riley's forehead. This is where Riley slammed into the IV stand and got a huge goose egg on her forehead. We debated taking her to get stitches but decided against it. Oh the drama with this girl!

First nap at home in his crib.
The first big sister, little brother pic!
Our attempt at a 1 month shot. Who needs to have cute stickers on shirts when you can have your big sister hold up her hand?! :)
