NOT love at first squash!

We started solids! My sister loaned me a baby cooker and I made squash first. I am not a big fan of squash and Ben can barely stand it. In our 5 years of marriage, I have never bought squash. I wasn't expecting her to love it but to be OK with it and/or maybe to try to swallow it...

Here is a before shot. She is happy thinking she is about to get some yummy rice cereal. And for the first few bites, she was chomping along until she realized that this substance tasted different.

Here is an after shot.

I wish I could capture all of the faces she made during the 5 bites of squash. There were multiple gags, one-eyed faces, jerky head movements, and then eventually her tongue pushed most all of it out of her mouth. I honestly didn't know she could move her face in the ways in which it moved. She was really working out those face muscles and it was very amusing to watch. After her afternoon nap, she had yellow all over her onesie.

Here is a video of her squash eating!

I tried zucchini today with a not much better result! Oh well, at least she is exploring new tastes. When I told Ben about her squash experience, his response was "Well, she has tasted four things in her life so far and has liked all but one of them"! The four things being breast milk, formula, rice cereal, and squash. Can this guy be anymore of an optimist??
