Riley is 2 years old!

Riley turned 2 on Aug 11th! When you ask her how old she is, she says "big girl"! We have been very busy with lots of big changes but Riley seems to be taking them all in stride. Here are a few funny moments from Riley!

  • We turned her car seat forward facing. For the first week, she would say "wheeeeee" like she was on a roller coaster for the entire ride. Now she just points her finger and says "FAST"!
  • We sing "ring around the rosie" alot and have a very dramatic "all fall down" at the end of it. I guess Riley was and is a little too into the "all fall down" part of the song because the other day a friend was over playing and he fell down and she just laughed and said "all fall down"! Hmmm, not quite the right context there!
  • The previous post was done by Ben about how he thought Riley might be constipated but it was really a false alarm. Well, a few days later when he was (conveniently) out of town, Riley had a severe case of constipation that lasted about 7 or 8 days. Let's just say it took extreme action and help from my mom to tackle this problem. Glad that is over with!
  • A few weeks ago, I had a bad dream about baby boy. That very morning, Riley and I were singing "He's got the whole word in His Hands" and Riley chooses who we sing it for. Usually it is for momma or Livy Anne but this morning it was for baby brother. Oh this momma had tears in her eyes. I took it as a reminder from God that He is in control of this baby's life and will take care of him!
  • Ben asked Riley if her name was Riley Grace. She said "NO, it is Riley Grace Solomon"! Smart cookie! Now if only we could get her to say it so that people besides her mommy and daddy could understand her! :)
  • Whenever Riley sees a book or letters, she says "ABCD Riley". I have no idea where this came from but we are working on our letters!
  • We have a book that goes through animal noises and at the end of it, it says "it's quiet now, what do you say?" Well, Riley has now started saying at this part of the book (along with a little dance), "peepee in the potty"! It is so funny and I have no idea where she learned that from!
We just had her 2 year appt and her stats are great. She is starting to slim down (27lbs 8 oz) which is 60th percentile. She is 35.5 inches tall and her head is still huge (90th percentile for both)!

As you can tell, Riley is developing quite the little personality! I love seeing it come out in her. We were at a work lunch with Ben's company and Riley (in the middle of a busy restaurant) decided to stand on her chair and sing the ABC song. How funny! She also loves to wear dresses and princess attire (including full out jewelry and costumes). Hopefully Ben is starting to come around to the idea that she might just be a little girly!

Other big changes happening in our house, POTTY TRAINING and SLEEPING IN A BIG GIRL BED! Those need their own blog posts though. This one is long enough!

Riley just after she finished her first snow cone. I think she liked it, do you?
Who doesn't wear pink flower sunglasses while sitting in their car seat?
Riley wearing her princess crown and earrings!

Her all-out Minnie Mouse costume from Lolly!
 Fun times with Daddy!
