At Riley's 2 year appointment the pediatrician asked me if we were going to have 2 cribs (one for Riley and one for baby). I said no and she said that we needed to move Riley to a big girl bed and do it PRONTO! So that evening, we took one side of her crib down. She loved being able to get in and out by herself! We didn't set any rules initially because I wanted to see how she did (we were able to watch her on the video monitor). We quickly learned that some toys are just too tempting for her! We now store them in other play areas in the house. Shoes have also been a big temptation for her! We would tuck her into bed and she would immediately get out and put on shoes and wear them all night!
She has only rolled out of bed 4 times (please don't tell CPS)! It would startle her but she would go right back to sleep once I put her back in bed.
In case you are wondering, we now have rules! Last week, she called me out of bed at 12, 1, 2, and 3. The 3am wake-up call was because her baby Bella had a wet diaper and it made her (baby Bella's) bottom hurt. So Riley was trying to put a new diaper on and put on (real) diaper cream. Rules were then enacted! Each night before bed we talk about how Riley is a big girl and how big girls stay in bed. I then ask her what happens if she gets out of bed and she says "spank on my bottom"! Thankfully I have yet to spank her bottom but I know I will have to do it soon enough.
She is an obedient little girl that seems to want to please us (most of the time)!
This weekend we are hoping to move her into a twin size bed so we can move the crib out into the baby's room.
This is Riley doing her Cousin It impression the morning after her first night spent in the big girl bed. She was showing off her shoes (that she routinely wears while sleeping)!
This is one tired girl. She was yawning as she was smiling.
Weary?
