Potty Training

About a month ago, I decided it was time to take a stab at potty training. I thought it would be better to do it while I was pregnant than with a newborn in my arms! We did the 3 day method (locking ourselves in the bathroom for three straight days) and it worked!

The first two days were rough with more pee than I could have imagined hitting the bathroom floor. Something clicked on day 3 and Riley got the hang of peepee. Poops were a whole other story. We had all sorts of emotions going on while trying to push out a poop. There were tears and false alarms. This was a regular occurence for about 3 weeks. Then last week, something clicked in her brain. She is now able to go sit on the big potty and just push out a poop like it is nothing! Of course, it might have something to do with the fact that after a poop she gets to watch a show AND eat a lollipop! We are big on rewards around here.

Every once in a while, she asks for a diaper and we remind her that Riley is a big girl and big girls don't need a diaper! In fact, when you ask her how old she is, she replies "big girl"!

One day during nap, she went both peepee and poop in her panties. She was crying and crying and kept saying "sorry momma"! It just broke our hearts that she felt so bad about it.

I have been so proud of Riley in this whole process. She has caught on very quickly and the process was much less painful that I imagined it to be! I can check that off my to-do list before this baby boy comes along!
