Riley Grace Solomon!!!

Riley made her appearence into this world at 10:29am Wednesday August 11th! She weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce and is 19 inches long.  The c-section was a little on the scary side for me but at the end of it, we had the miracle of our baby girl. Ben was INCREDIBLE during the surgery. I (well most of both of our families) had some doubts about how he would handle the c-section because of his tendency to get queasy very easily. He was able to really calm me down and also take pictures. I don't know what I would do without him by my side.

Riley all packed up in her carseat before we left the hospital. We have the car seat as tight as it can be and she just barely fits. When we left the hospital, she weighed in at 5 pounds 8 ounces (she lost 9.5% of her body weight). I was relieved the pediatrician did not make us supplement with formula. Whew!

Izzy is still investigating this whole baby thing. We are teaching her to sniff Riley but not lick. This is easier said than done! Izzy has been so sweet to Riley. In fact this morning, Ben was in charge of waking Riley up and diaper duty before handing her off to me (so I could get some more sleep). We have this high tech video monitor and Ben was watching her but once Izzy heard Riley, she insisted that I get up by squeaking until I was out of bed. Honestly, who needs an expensive baby monitor when you have an Izzy monitor!

We love our little baby girl and can't wait for more of our friends and family to meet her.
