Valentine's Day - so sweet...mostly

Our Valentine's day was low key this year. A week before, we went to the Richardson High School musical Singing in the Rain. I loved it. We went on Saturday night but I really wanted to go on Thursday night for the opening (bc I like to see the rough edges of set changes and costumes). With the ice storm, Saturday ended up being the opening night! So I got to have a few extra laughs along with the audiences when sets weren't working right or when Don Lockwood was doing the Singing in the Rain number and slipped in the rain! :)

The day before Valentine's day, Ben informed me that he needed printer paper to give me my gift. So I was all to eager to go out and get computer paper for him! A while back, we saw a coupon book at Barnes and Noble of fun things to do together or for each other. So that's what Ben did. He gave me a coupon book filled with 5 min massages, Ben cooking meals, washing dishes, etc. Here is where the tricky part comes in, usually when you try to redeem a coupon, there are no questions asked!! Well I have tried to redeem these coupons a few times since then and there are always these little restrictions that keep coming up. Here are just a few of them that have come up thus far:
1. Apparently you must redeem between the hours of 9am to 9pm which is not noted ANYWHERE on the coupon
2. If I try for a before 9pm coupon redemption but Ben is not in the mood, then the coupon is denied!
3. Once I tried to redeem for the back massage (and miraciously didn't have #1 and #2 above standing in my way), but we were in bed and I am apparently supposed to physically hand him the coupon! Well I was already warm and in bed and wasn't moving!

You will be pleased to note that I have actually redeemed the 5 minute massage and we stamped it on the back and dated it, so there will NOT be any double redeeming in this house!

Oh the coupon book, it seems to be a gift that keeps on giving. It has been good for many a laughs at our house about how persnickety one person in this relationship seems to be!!

On a more serious note, Ben is so good to me and is such a support since I have started staying home with Riley. He realizes that sometimes I might be close to tettering on the edge of insanity and he steps in to save the day! Well, him and my mom tag team this sometimes. I don't know where I would be without my Ben!!

  1. Mr. Ben, Mr. Ben, Mr. Ben...it kind of negates the gift if you won't let her redeem them! Maybe you should have thought ahead and made coupons she'd never want to use in the first place. Like a buy 3 get 1 free kind of thing! :)
